Bringing together the latest advances in technology to build strong business solutions

What is Digital Transformation?

Digital transformation is when a company or an organization deploys new technology or changes the way that they use technology to optimize their business. Companies may go through a digital transformation to increase revenue or augment their business model to reach new markets or enhance their customer experience.

What is DevOps?

DevOps is a model for the development and operations of digital technology. Think of it as the design process, but for monitoring and continuous improvement. Feedback is taken from the end-user, which in many cases is the customer. The developers then create a plan based on the feedback and builds, tests, and deploys the technology. The customer experience continually monitored and their feedback informs the improvements to be made in the next revision.

What is Big Data?

Big data refers to data sets that are much larger than what a typical Microsoft Excel spreadsheet can handle. In the world of social media and the Internet of Things (IOT), we are constantly generating large amounts of data that various companies use to enhance their businesses. According to IBM, these data sets have “one or more of the following characteristics— high volume, high velocity, or high variety. Big data comes from sensors, devices, video/audio, log files, transactional applications, web, and social media – much of it generated in real time and in a very large scale.”

What is Artificial Intelligence?

According to the Oxford Dictionary, artificial intelligence is the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.

So that’s the official definition, but the implications are incredibly vast. AI helps companies process big data and ultimately improve its business model and customer experience. Consider how Amazon’s Alexa has transformed their business by making it easier for customers to order products with simple voice commands.

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is the use of remote servers to store and process data. These servers don’t actually live in a cloud. They are massive server farms all over the world. If you use a cloud storage service like Dropbox, your data may be stored in several different remote locations. Cloud computing can reduce IT costs, allow businesses to adapt to growing storage needs, and provides redundancy to avoid the loss of data.

What is Serverless Computing?

Serverless computing is also known as Function as a Service (FaaS). The user does not have to plan for the use of a server, because services like AWS Lambda executes coded functions only when needed, rather than a server running idle while waiting for a command. The functions are still executed by a server; therefore, the term “serverless” is a bit deceiving.
